Why does one of my cats like to lick the bar of soap when he jumps up to the bathroom sink?

I suppose thаt’s similar tο a former cat οf mine, loving tο lick photographs! Maybe іt’s a form οf pica, (whісh humans аlѕο hаνе) whеrе a deficiency іn thеіr diet causes thеm tο want non-food bits аnd pieces?

If you are feeding your cat premium cat food they probably are not deficient in any nutrients (such as what happens with pica).

I would say they simply like the fats in soap. Cats like fats. Fatty milk, butter, stout off meat and chicken… I reckon it is b/c they lack the sensors to taste sugars. My cats like to lick butter and sour cream!

I would just place the soap somewhere else to preclude your kitty from getting an upset stomach.

maybe he a bit wet behind the ears..it may fancy another cat and wants to make his breath smell nice, because he cant get the top of the toothpaste.
whatever he does it for go the bar of soap so he cant do it no more…he be frothing at the mouth next.and wanting a vet

i had a dog who did that once. she really liked the colorless dove soap. she would really eat the whole bar!! that’s when my dad changed our brand to the golden-haired dial bar. she stopped eating the bar of soap after that. try doing the same or just not allow your cat on the bathroom sink!!
